Sophomore RB Toney Baker was brilliant at times for NC State as a freshman. There were bumps along the road but Baker, along with fellow RB Andre Brown appear poised for a huge season in 2006. Pack Pride caught up with Baker recently following practice.
How different is it coming out with a season already under your belt?
"It's way different. I'm coming in now and I know a lot more about the offense. I feel a lot more comfortable. I know all the guys and it just feels great."
You and Andre Brown working together in the backfield, is that going to be a big part of the offense this year?
"It's going to be huge. We're going to be able to give other teams different looks with me and Andre in the backfield. We're going to help each other out. He'll block for me some and I'll block for him and we're just going to make it happen."
Will you and Andre be a big part of the passing game this year?
"Definitely. I think we can help our passing game a lot. We'll definitely be helping block a lot in pass protection too."
How important is it to be deep at the RB position?
"This time of year we've got to have depth. We've got pretty good depth here at RB and you'll be able to see it on gameday.
Is it strange to see Darrell Blackman at wide receiver?
"Yeah, it's great. You know, we're trying to get the best guys on the field. Having Darrell out there is another weapon on offense and he's going to do some great things.
