Thoughts on new rule changes and time spent on them in practice:
We spent probably 15 minutes today on it. Every team has to be ready, not just the offense, but the defense, and the kicking game, especially when we're talking about late in the game.
We [have] three weeks from [the first scrimmage] to make sure we can cover every different scenario.
As long as [the players] have a feel for it, and more importantly the coaches.
It's a tough thing. It can make a big difference, on both coaches and officials. On both sides of that. When we scrimmaged, that's what we practiced, to see what new things are there.
Thoughts on Garland Heath being a leader:
He has, and he got a little fuzzy the other day and he's not going to be able to do much. He's suppose to... he's suppose to be a leader back there because he's shown that he can be a playmaker.
You can't do that if you're not out there, you can't do that if you're not in the best of shape, and I'm not saying he's not or he is. You can't do that if you're not where you're suppose to be weight-wise.
If you were a free safety last year and you weighed 210 and you weigh 360 this year it's going to be tough to play back there and break on the ball.
Thoughts on John Amanchuckwu:
I'm glad he's here and time will tell. The youngster has really come a long way. He's very strong, and he's got good athletic ability, and he's going to get that opportunity.
Marcus Stone said he's learned how to cut hair by cutting other players. Would you ever let him cut yours?
Yes, if he wants to. Sure, why not, and then I would cut his... with a knife.
Is Gavin Smith out at practice?
He's going through acclimization. He and [Harrison] Beck, it was their third day of acclimization. They had to pick one practice, I believe they are doing the evening practices because they can only practice once.
You had him originally as a verbal commitment, then he signed with Virginia, and now he's at NC State. How would you describe his recruitment, was it one of your stranger ones?
Very strange... very strange. Especially when you read the prelude, is that at the front of the book? What's the one at the back of the book? The end.
