Offensive tackle Clyde Yandell has an impressive offer list and it might not be long before he makes a decision.
The 6-5, 290-pound lineman from St. Augustine (Fl.) Nease has received offers from NC State, Georgia Tech, Florida, Maryland and Louisville, among others.
"Of the schools that have offered me those are the five that I'm really considering," said Yandell. "I wouldn't say they're in any particular order. I've had a chance to see some of the schools, and I'd like to make a decision sometime in September if that's possible."
The situation has a twist, however. Yandell is also interested in two college football powerhouses that have not offered yet. Is there a chance that might change soon?
"I'm pretty high on Michigan and Notre Dame, but they haven't offered yet. I'd like to make a decision soon, but I want to hear something definitive from them before I do. I just want to know if they plan on offering or not. Once I hear that I'll feel better about moving forward with all of this."
Yandell plans on attending the September 2 game between Notre Dame and Georgia Tech in Atlanta. He is not sure if he will visit any other schools before making a decision.
"That's not a high priority right now, just because I feel like I have a good grasp of most things. I just want to focus on my season. We had our first preseason game this past week and we won 21-14. The varsity played for one half and the junior varsity played the other half. I played offensive tackle and feel like I did pretty well. I'm going to send some tape out to schools before long."
What does the Florida tackle think about NC State?
"To be honest I really don't know too much about the school itself," he said. "I'm going to keep learning more between now and when I make my decision. I know a lot more about the football program.
"Coach Amato seems like he's doing a good job. He and Coach (Pat) Meyer, their offensive line coach, really seem to want me. I feel like I could step into a good situation there and help them out."
Yandell is a three-star prospect and should be rated one of the top linemen in the state of Florida.
