Maurice Holloway has narrowed things down to five schools and the Pack is right in the hunt.
The 6-7, 320-pound offensive lineman from Orlando (Fl.) Lake Highland Prep is looking hard at Florida State, NC State, Auburn and South Carolina. What does he like about each?
"I was a childhood fan of Florida State, so I've always kept up with them," said Holloway. "They haven't offered, but that's a place that I would love to play. I like just about everything about them.
"I like the fact that NC State looks like they have a lot of talent. Chuck Amato is a really good coach. You know a coach is doing a lot of good things when he has three guys from one defensive line go in the first round of the draft.
"My dad lives in Auburn, so we would be able to get a lot closer if I went up there. Plus they play in the SEC and have been doing really well.
"South Carolina? Steve Spurrier. That's all you really have to say about them. You know he's going to get it done. I'm not really quite as interested in Florida, but I'll still leave them in there."
Lake Highland lost their first two games of the season, but will have a shot at redemption this Friday night against Clearwater Catholic. Holloway has played on both sides of the ball in each contest – as an offensive guard and a nose tackle. He has 10 tackles and three tackles for loss on the year.
"I'm going to Florida this weekend, just to see their game against UCF. But like I said, I'm not really quite as interested in them as the others.
"I definitely plan on taking as many official visits as I can. I'm going to go to Florida State and NC State, but I have to work the dates out. I really hope I can go to South Carolina sometime too. Once I do that I should be able to make a decision right after the season ends.
