Fort Meade (FL) offensive lineman Micah Grimes enjoyed his official visit to NC State, and he discussed his trip with Pack Pride.

"It was awesome," said Grimes. "I liked everything that I saw, and I really had no complaints. The game was awesome. I don't think there was a better game you could witness than that.

"I liked talking with coach Meyer and coach Amato, and I like coach Dixon, my recruiting coach. NC State is definitely my #1 right now."

What did he like the most about his official visit?

"I liked the facilities," said Grimes. "It was a beautiful place. I love the area, and I've been to a lot of places and this was right there on the same level with places like Florida and Auburn. The stadium is beautiful, and the fans are supportive. I liked it all."

Grimes plays tackle for his high school team but projects as a guard or center on the next level. He had a chance to talk with NC State offensive line coach Pat Meyer about the Wolfpack's blocking schemes and offensive philosophy.

"It's very similar to ours," said Grimes. "We run a lot of zone and stretch stuff, and their pass protection is similar to ours. I sat down for about 30 minutes with coach Meyer and watched some film, and he showed me what was going on. I like the offense, I think I'd fit in well there."

Grimes stated that he could take official visits to Colorado State and Iowa State but those trips have not been scheduled yet. Although he didn't give an exact timeframe, Grimes hinted that a decision could come sooner than later.

"I'll probably be making a decision in the next few weeks," he said. "I feel like I'm getting ready to make a decision."

Grimes is playing solid on the offensive line thus far for Fort Meade, and has seen regular double-teams while playing defense. He has earned scholarships from Maryland, NC State, South Florida, Colorado State, Central Florida, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State and Iowa State.

The talented lineman racked up 80 pancake blocks and 179 knockdowns as a junior en route to all-state first team and all-county honors. Grimes has been Mr. Consistency as well as he's started 34 consecutive games and played in two state championships.

Grimes is currently rated the No. 94 in's Preseason Top 100 Prospects in state of Florida.
