"It's official, I'm going to play for the Wolfpack," Linney told Pack Pride. "I pretty much just knew this was where I wanted to go to school. I decided this was where I wanted to go, and I committed to coach Cignetti today. He seemed excited about it.
"My dad was always a NC State fan so he was really happy for me, and my mom is glad that I'm going to school."
The defensive tackle committed to NC State over offers from South Carolina and East Carolina. He was recently named to the Shrine Bowl team, an honor that Linney is proud of.
"I was happy about that," he said. "It gives me a chance to show people what I can do against the best from South Carolina."
With his recruitment behind him, Linney plans on finishing up his senior season and focusing on academics.
"I'm certain that State is the school for me," he said. "It was where I felt I could be comfortable at and have a good four years, maybe even five. The success they've had with defensive linemen was probably the biggest factor."
Kyle Linney is NC State's 15th commitment in the 2007 class. Pack Pride will have more on Linney in the near future so stay tuned!
