Hickson led Marietta (GA) Wheeler to a 2-2 record in the 2006 Les Schwab Invitational. The Wildcats lost the tournament finale 73-58 to Mountain View (AZ). Hickson tallied 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in the contest, shooting just 7-of-18 from the field. It was Wheeler's fourth game in four days.
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound post player dominated the competition all week, and he was easily one of the best players in attendance. In four games, he averaged 27.5 points and 12.3 rebounds, finishing second in the tournament in both statistics behind UCLA verbal Kevin Love. Love averaged 28.5 points and 13.3 boards.
Through ten games, Hickson is now averaging 25.5 points and 14.5 rebounds as Wheeler returns to Georgia 7-3 on the season.
A consensus top 25 player, Hickson is rated the No. 3 center prospect in the country by Scout.com. The network has also tabbed him a five-star prospect and the No. 21 player overall in the class of 2007. He is expected to be a McDonald's All-American this spring.
2008 commitment C.J. Williams and Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt earned the No. 1 seed in the 2006 SunCom Boys' Basketball Holiday Tournament,
Even in defeat, Williams was spectacular. The 6-foot-5 wing tallied 26 points, eight rebounds, six blocks, two assists, and two steals with no turnovers. In the three tournament games, Williams averaged 27.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks to earn Tournament MVP honors.
Britt is now 11-2 on the season. Through 13 games, Williams is averaging 25.4 points and 8.2 boards.
Just a junior, Williams committed to NC State in November.
