Britt, Williams Lose in Overtime

NC State commitment C.J. Williams again was outstanding, but his effort was not enough as Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt suffered its first conference loss of the year.

NC State commitment C.J. Williams again was outstanding, but his effort was not enough as Fayetteville (NC) Jack Britt suffered its first conference loss of the year.

Playing at Douglas Byrd High School, Britt entered the game with a 12-2 record and a perfect 4-0 mark in Mid Southeastern Conference play. Byrd was just 7-5 and 2-1 in the conference, but was playing Britt at the right time. The Bucs were coming off a thrilling 50-45 win over South View and came out sluggish.

The game went into overtime, and Byrd pulled out a six-point victory, 73-67. Britt junior C.J. Williams is already considered the top player in the region, and he was superb tonight. Williams totaled 32 points, 19 rebounds, four steals, three blocks, and three assists.

Britt is now 12-3 on the season and 4-1 in conference play. Through 15 games, Williams is averaging 25.9 points and 8.8 boards. He committed to NC State in November over offers from Clemson, Virginia Tech, and South Carolina among others.

Jack Britt returns to the court January 12th in a home game against Pinecrest High School.
