Prospect Ranking: Linney is rated a two-star prospect by Scout.com, and the No. 84 defensive tackle in the nation.

Accomplishments: Linney earned all-conference honors as a junior. He recorded 67 tackles as a senior. After his senior season Linney was one of the top performers in the Shrine Bowl.

Academics: Linney projects as an academic qualifier.

The Recruiting Scene: Curt Cignetti was responsible for recruiting Linney to State, and the coaching change took him by surprise. At first Linney mentioned that he might consider Clemson, but made it clear he was a solid verbal after visiting with the new coaching staff. Known as a solid prospect all along, Linney's stock soared after a strong Shrine Bowl performance. He received offers from South Carolina and East Carolina, as well as interest from Clemson and North Carolina.

Scouting Report: "Kyle Linney surprised me with his size, and is certainly 6-3/285 and will be a solid contributor as a nose tackle in college. He has some skinny legs that will need to add some muscle to before getting pushed back in the middle of he line. Plays very low off the ball and active in the middle with his hands and footwork moving laterally. A bit inconsistent, shows flashes of his potential against the run. Plays hard." -- Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Miller Safrit
