Olson will be in Philly visiting Shakur on Tuesday, September 11th. Then Mustafa jumps on a plane and heads to Tucson two days later on the 13th and will return on Sunday, September 15th. Coach Sendek will be in Shakur's home on the 10th. Mustafa will be on the NC State campus the last weekend in September (27-29th) according to The Insiders Scout Database.
Shakur's has a timeline set. "I want to have made a choice by the second week of October." This schedule may mean time is running out for Virginia, another possible contender.
There are only a couple of weekends open (9/20, 10/4) before Shakur's planned announcement. No official having been set for Virginia prompted TSW to ask Mustafa about a possible in-home by Virginia's Pete Gillen or a visit to Charlottesville. "I am just concentrating on these two visits (NC State & Arizona) right now. I don't want to schedule any more for now."
That statement along with the fact that the days and weekends are few before the "second week in October", makes things look unlikely that Shakur will schedule a visit for Virginia. This could change of course, if Mustafa does not find what he is looking for in either Tucson or Raleigh.
The long summer road to September has not taken it's toll on Shakur who told TSW he is not tired of the process and is looking forward to his visits and making his choice. Mustafa, as he has all summer, named no favorites in our Sunday interview. That will all change sooner rather than later as a front runner should emerge if things go well for Shakur with his visits.
Mustafa is back in school at Friends' Central and is looking forward to the upcoming season with his teammates.
