NC RB Waiting for More Wolfpack Attention

CJ Wilson is one of the state's top returning rushers for 2007. NC State has been in touch but has it been enough to crack Wilson's top five list? We've got the latest.

CJ Wilson from Lincolnton (NC) High School is one of North Carolina's top returning running backs for 2008. After totaling 2,300 all purpose yards and 33 touchdowns as a sophomore, Wilson saw a slight drop as a junior when he rushed for 1,300 yards and had close to 500 yards receiving. Regardless, the rising senior is receiving a ton of recruiting interest but has yet to land his first scholarship offer.

"I'm hearing from Duke, UNC, NC State, Wake Forest, Clemson, South Carolina, Tennessee, Miami- actually, I'm hearing from just about all of the SEC and ACC schools," said Wilson. "I haven't got a scholarship offer yet, though"

At 5-11, 170 pounds and boasting 4.4-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Wilson attended two NC State games as a junior and seemed to be a major target for the former NC State staff. It would appear that head coach Tom O'Brien and staff are still evaluating Wilson, however.

"They've been sending some letters but they haven't shown as much attention as some of the other schools," he said. "But I went to a couple of games last year and I loved the game atmosphere. I liked the way the campus is spaced out and there's a lot there to like.

"One of the coaches came by my school a while back and they seem like a good staff. I guess I'm just waiting on them to show me more interest."

Perhaps because of that lack of interest, Wilson didn't include the Pack in his current top five.

"I'd say my top five right now are UNC, Duke, Clemson, Wake Forest and South Carolina," he said.
