Offensive lineman T.J. Johnson holds nine offers and more may be on the way.
The NC State coaching staff has made Johnson one of their top offensive line priorities in the Class of 2008, and they are keeping close tabs on him.
"I was at the NC State spring game a little while back and had a great time," said Johnson. "It was the first time I had a chance to go there and I was really impressed. The facilities, stadium and campus were really nice.
"Earlier this week Coach O'Brien came down to my school. I really like him, and I think he's a winner. He was winning about nine games a year at Boston College, and they were always in bowl games. You can tell he really knows what he's talking about, and he commands a lot of respect."
At 6-4 and 286 pounds, Johnson runs the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds. He currently has offers from NC State, Maryland, Duke, Kentucky, and East Carolina, as well as scholarships from some smaller schools.
"Everyone is recruiting me to play offensive line, but I'm hearing different things from different coaches as to just where I'll play. Some like me as a tackle, some a guard and some are talking about getting me to play center. I think NC State is recruiting me as an interior lineman, so either guard or center."
Johnson said he does not have a leader and is waiting on offers from other schools. In addition to the schools already mentioned he is hearing from North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Colorado.
It may be a while before he makes a decision.
"I'm planning on going to a lot of camps this summer, but I'm not sure where yet. I'll probably take all five of my official visits and wait until around Signing Day before making my decision. I'm really just enjoying the recruiting process and I want to make sure I don't close any doors."
