Godley Recruiting is Picking Up Steam

Pack Pride breaks down the schools showing interest in defensive end Baird Godley and who he has at the top of his wish-list.

Defensive end Baird Godley from NW Guilford High School in Greensboro, NC may not have an official scholarship offer but that hasn't prevented him from entertaining a ton of college interest over the last several weeks.

At 6-3, 235 pounds and boasting 4.76-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Godley amassed an impressive 89 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, nine sacks and seven pass breakups as a junior. Several schools have maintained contact with the rising senior as they continue their evaluation process.

"There have been several coaches that have come by to see me or have called and texted me," said Godley. Coach Rick Smith has come by and he's recruiting me for East Carolina. Coach Lilly from Florida State, Coach Mccarty from Wake Forest and Coach Ratliff from Marshall have also come by.

"I have been texting and talking to coach Brooks from Tennessee, Coach Goss from Middle Tennessee State, coach Ratliff from Marshall coach Swepson from NC State and Coach Smith from ECU. I haven't received any offers yet but Marshall, ECU, and MTSU said it will be coming once I come to camp this summer."

Although he hasn't closed the door on any school, Godley talked about four teams of particular interest.

NC State- "I still like N.C. State," said Godley. "Coach Swepson is real nice guy and coach Willis really knows his stuff. I have talked to coach Swepson and he said he will be by soon I will be attending camp at State this summer and I am still very interested in NC State."

East Carolina- "I am very interested in the Pirates and will be attending a one day camp there this summer. ECU has really started to talk to me in the last month and coach Smith said if everything works out at camp, an offer will be there for me."

Tennessee- "I am very interested in Tennessee. I went to their junior day and spring game this year and I really like coach Brooks. We talk about twice a week. I will also be attending camp there as well. Tennessee said they actually like me as an OLB so that's what I worked out as at the Nike Camp in Athens on Aril 21st.

UNC- "The UNC coaches came by my school (last week) and spoke with my coach. Coach Pagano and Blake both were there. They watched some of my film and said they could see me as an OLB or H-back or down the road a defensive tackle. I really enjoyed meeting them and am trying to work it out with my schedule to get there during their camp for one day."
