After tallying 125 tackles, nine sacks and six picks as a junior, Olympic High School (Charlotte, NC) LB Jared Seate will be hoping to parlay that production into a division one scholarship in the coming months.
An all-conference selection as a junior, Seate has earned early recruiting attention from NC State, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Duke, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech.
Seate talked about the interest he's received over the last several weeks.
"Well, NC State, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech have been by the school," said Seate. "Marshall also came by and so did Tennessee. Vanderbilt has been texting me, too. Virginia Tech probably sends me the most mail but NC State is right behind them."
At 6-1, 210 pounds, Seate has been a standout for Olympic at inside linebacker although a switch to outside is possible in 2007. However, it's inside where Seate likely projects in college and he's got a list of four that he's keeping a close eye on.
"My top schools right now would be NC State, Virginia tech, Virginia and Wake Forest," he said. "I would say State is probably my favorite. My sisters go to school there and I love the campus. We always go up to the state fair every year and I like that area. I went to a game last year and I really liked the atmosphere there."
The camp circuit could be an important piece of the recruiting puzzle for Seate headed into the summer. But for now, he has just a couple of stops planned.
"I know I'll be going to camp at NC State and I'm planning to go to a one day camp at Wake Forest," he said.
