Final Three For Brewington?

WORCESTER, Mass. -- UMass is no longer involved. Neither is Arizona. Ditto for Temple. It appears as if just three schools are still in the running for combo guard Dwight Brewington.

The 6-5 native of Lynn, Mass., has official visits at N.C. State and South Carolina scheduled for later this month. He's already seen Providence. And he'll almost certainly end up at one of those three.

"Arizona is done," he said Tuesday afternoon at Worcester Academy, where he's set to spend his senior season. "They tried to have me as their No. 2 guard (target). I asked them if they'd let me commit before (Mustafa) Shakur visited. They said no. So I dropped them."

He also decided to drop Temple after a visit to the Owls' Philadelphia campus this past weekend.

That leaves the final trio. Providence coach Tim Welsh -- a graduate, by the way, of Worcester Academy -- is supposed to conduct an in-home visit Wednesday night. N.C. State has Brewington next Monday.

"It's in the ACC," Brewington said when asked about the Wolfpack's chances. "It's the best conference. I would love to play with Julius Hodge. Their team's good, and I want to win."
