NC State will kick off their summer camps later this month. Hundreds of high school players will be in attendance and their performance will be critical in landing an offer from the Wolfpack. Pack Pride has already taken a look at the quarterbacks hoping to earn an offer from NC State and today we have part one of a two part series breaking down 20 rising seniors that have a legitimate shot at earning a scholarship from State.

RB Travis Leggett

6-0, 200 pounds, 4.67-seconds in the 40

West Columbus High School, Cerro Gordo, NC

Notes...Leggett is a load at running back that runs with power. He could also potentially get a look from the Wolfpack coaches at either safety or linebacker because of his size. Speed may be a little bit of a concern for running back. NC State has been one of Leggett's top schools if not his favorite for months. He's also looking at UNC, Virginia, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

DE Kamar Frost

6-5, 225 pounds, 4.8-seconds in the 40

Jones County High School, Maysville, NC

Notes...Frost is a raw prospect but possesses a ton of upside. Once he begins to tap into that potential the sky could be the limit. Frost has a solid frame and is a long, rangy player. It certainly wouldn't be surprising to see him earn a Wolfpack offer at some point. State is solidly one of Frost's favorites along with West Virginia. East Carolina is also in hot pursuit.

DL Anthony Garner

6-1, 290 pounds, 4.95-seconds in the 40

Jordan-Mathews High School, Siler City, NC

Notes...When looking at film, Garner is as impressive as any prospect in the state. May not have ideal height but is extremely explosive and surprisingly quick. He is another player that may be a front-runner to earn an offer from the Pack. He has listed NC State as his top school until recently when Virginia Tech took the lead. It is our opinion that the Pack could easily reemerge on top should they offer.

OL Justin Ward

6-5, 280 pounds, 5.2-seconds in the 40

Rockingham (NC) High School

Notes...Ward has a good build but his foot quickness and overall agility may be a notch below other more highly-rated line prospects like RJ Mattes and Andrew Wallace. Still, Ward has tremendous potential and with time will become a solid college offensive lineman. Marshall has already offered but Ward will likely earn several more during the summer camp circuit. The previous NC State coaching staff had offered Ward but the current regime will evaluate at camp.

S Tony Morgan

6-1 190 pounds, 4.49-seconds in the 40

Garner (NC) High School

Notes...Morgan has good size for a defensive back and proved he has the speed to match during the spring combine tour. Has good athleticism and we really like his competitive spirit. South Carolina and UNC have been out front but NC State has been lurking in Morgan's top five. We think the potential is there for State to make a serious move up should they decide to offer. Grades could be playing a factor in Morgan's recruiting.

LB Lyndell Gibson

5-11, 225 pounds, 4.65-seconds in the 40

Salem High School, Virginia Beach, Va

Notes....Gibson may not have prototypical height but he is known as one of Virginia's hardest hitters. Known as one of the top LB's in the Virginia Beach area. NC State has recruited Gibson consistently and given their needs at LB will likely take a close look at him. Virginia Tech, UNC, Penn State and Connecticut have also been involved.

LB Derek Jackson

6-3, 210 pounds, 4.65-seconds in the 40

Deep Run High School, Glen Allen, Va

Notes...Jackson recently picked up his first big-time offer when Purdue pledged a scholarship. Jackson has been on the NC State radar for quite some time. He has a great frame for linebacker and the Pack coaches will probably closely evaluate to see if he has the speed to match. NC State, Clemson, Nebraska and Northwestern were the schools Jackson told us he has a lot of interest in although Purdue could likely be added to that list as well.

OL Jonathan Cooper

6-2, 290 pounds, 5.0-seconds in the 40

Hoggard High School, Wilmington, NC

Notes...Were Cooper a couple of inches taller he'd likely be one of the most heavily recruited offensive linemen in the southeast. He has tremendous natural strength and good OL fundamentals. Plays with a low center of gravity and does a great job of getting underneath defenders. Cooper is a player that- should he get offered by NC State- we certainly wouldn't be surprised. East Carolina has already offered and the Pack could make a serious push should they ultimately decide to offer.

S/OLB Reggie Bowens

6-2, 214 pounds, 4.47-seconds in the 40

Garner (NC) High School

Notes...Bowens has not listed NC State very highly during the spring recruiting period and they may be a result of the fact NC State has not offered yet. Bowens likely projects as an OLB on the next level but is relatively raw at the position and gets by on his size and speed. However, he would appear to have a ton of upside and he's earned offers from UNC, South Carolina, East Carolina and Clemson. Those four schools are also at the top of his favorite's list.

RB/ S Vince Jordan

5-10, 200 pounds, 4.4-seconds in the 40

West Montgomery High School, Mt Gilead, NC

Notes...Jordan has amazing speed and athletic ability. He has been consistently timed in the 4.4-second range (in the 40-yard dash). Jordan could project at fullback, safety or outside linebacker on the next level. Has serious family ties to NC State and is considering the Wolfpack heavily along with Auburn.
