ATH Tobias Palmer from Northwood High School in Pittsboro, NC was NC State's first commitment for the class of 2008 when he pledged to the Pack back in March. This past weekend he made the short drive over to UNC to attend a one day camp with the Heels. Pack Pride caught up with the speedy athlete for the latest.
"I went over there to work out and see where my skills are at right now," said Palmer.
One of the fastest prospects in North Carolina, Palmer has been timed as low as 10.4-seconds in the 100-meter dash. That kind of speed has made him a target of other schools hoping to sway him from the Pack. He said that UNC told him they plan to continue to recruit him over the coming months.
"They were recruiting me basically saying that they want me to keep in touch with them and they'll be keeping in touch with me," said Palmer. "They just let me know that they're going to keep recruiting me."
For now, Palmer maintains that his commitment to NC State is strong.
"I'm still committed to State, so far," said Palmer. "That's where I committed and that's where I'm planning to go. I'll be camping at State this summer."
Palmer rushed for 1,500 yards and 31 all-purpose touchdowns as a junior. 24 of those scores came on the ground. He was timed at 4.42-seconds in the 40-yard dash at the Shrine Bowl Combine held earlier this year at Ragsdale High School.
