"It was awesome," said Rieskamp. "All the fans were there and it seemed packed. It looked like they had a lot of good fan support, and the fans seem real excited to start over with the new staff."
At 6-3, 240 pounds and boasting 4.6-second speed in the 40-yard dash, Rieskamp finished off 2006 with eight sacks en route to all-state, all-district and all-league honors.
He believes that he could play defensive end or outside linebacker on the next level.
"I think I can play either, but I think they want me to play defensive end... probably rush end."
Rieskamp chose the Wolfpack over offers from Boston College, Michigan State, West Virginia, Miami (Ohio), Cincinnati, Akron, Ohio and Ball State. He originally committed to BC, but is now headed to NC State after being re-recruited by Tom O'Brien and his staff.
O'Brien left an impression on Rieskamp.
"I really like him," said Rieskamp. "Coach O'Brien seems like a straightforward guy. He's honest, and I think he's a guy you can trust."
Academically qualified, Rieskamp will return to Raleigh later this month to enroll for the second summer session.
"I leave June 29th," he stated. "I am ready to go. The spring game kind of gave me a taste of what it is going to be like. I can't wait to get down there."
