Pack Lands One Of Nation's Finest Tailbacks

The Pack added a dynamic offensive weapon to its program the afternoon when Bunn, N.C., product Brandon Barnes pledged to the coaching staff.

Highly regarded in-state tailback Brandon Barnes committed to the Wolfpack today. Considered a four-star athlete and the No. 7 tailback in the country, Barnes becomes the fourth member of NC State's Class of 2008.

"The situation just felt right," said Barnes. "I was ready to commit to NC State, and it takes a lot of pressure off of me."

Playing tailback and wide receiver, the 6-0, 180-pound Barnes racked up more than 800 all-purpose yards and a dozen touchdowns on offense as a junior at Bunn High School. He added 77 tackles and five interceptions as a defensive back, while also adding two scores as a kick returner.

Barnes collected more than 30 scholarship offers, eventually narrowing his list to State, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Michigan and Virginia Tech.
