The following should be considered a rough guide only as many factors will affect the actual numbers at each position between now and signing day next year. All information contained in this article is the opinion of the staff at Pack Pride and should not be confused as being information from the coaching staff at NC State. It is also based on information known at the current time. Several aspects of this listing will certainly change as the recruiting season progresses.

How does the Pack's recruiting pool look: Grade B

NC State was extremely inconsistent with it's offensive line recruiting under Chuck Amato. The good news is that the backbone of Tom O'Brien's coaching tenure has been the development of OL. It appears early on that State is heavily recruiting the tackle position. The Pack has offered numerous prospects to address this spot but the recruiting pool may not be exactly where they want it just yet. However, with a QB, RB, WR and TE already committed, the staff will certainly be able to sell that to the big uglies down the road. This is also a position that you'll likely see new names emerge over the next three months so this should be considered just a start.

Pack Pride's Dream Recruiting Class at OL...Andrew Wallace, Nick Becton, T.J. Johnson, R.J. Mattes, Justin Lewis

On the board and listing the Pack:

Andrew Wallace ...Wallace is raw but has all the physical tools you're looking for to work with. Grew up an NC State fan and camped at State for three days recently. However, he has gone underground and we have not been able to gather any information on where he may be leaning currently.

Nick Becton...Insiders rave about Becton's potential. He's still learning the position but has a tremendous amount of upside. Of all the offensive line recruits, State may be in the best position with Becton. They've led for him consistently and Wilmington has been particularly kind to the Pack.

T.J. Johnson...Johnson is a solid lineman and plays the position with the type of attitude you like. State appeared to be in very good shape early on but recently, South Carolina made an offer and they, along with Wake Forest lead the way. The Pack will have to get him back on campus to improve their chances.

R.J. Mattes...Probably the most polished lineman in the state and could be dominant once his body develops fully. NC State, Clemson, Virginia and UNC look particularly strong in this battle. However, we'd definitely feel that Clemson may be the team to beat. If the Tigers fail to live up to expectations in 2007 then that could create a dogfight to land Mattes.

Justin Lewis...Lewis is under-rated in our opinion and has impressed each time we've seen him. Maryland and State have both offered and those two lead the way. However, South Carolina and Clemson could emerge as serious contenders should they offer and a late November decision time frame could mean that's exactly what Lewis is looking at.

Byran Jones...Jones told us earlier this year that State is one of his top schools but in all honesty, we're not sure how interested the Pack is right now. We'll leave him on the board for now.

Joe Pachuta...Pachuta is another underrated tackle prospect out of Ohio that State is keeping an eye on. The Pack staff had particular success in the midwest while at BC so this could develop into one to watch. NC State is one of Pachuta's top schools although the Pack has yet to offer.

Justin Ward...Ward is one of the better line prospects in North Carolina and has picked up an offer from Marshall. He had received an offer from the former Pack staff but O'Brien and company have yet to offer. Ward has not named favorites as he works to earn more offers. Should State offer at some point, they could become a major player.

Harold Coates...Huge lineman but doesn't have prototypical height for an offensive lineman. He claims an NC State offer but we're not 100% sure of that. Hasn't really named any favorites but we're keeping an eye on him for the time being.
