Name: Everett Dawkins
Hometown: Duncan, South Carolina
High School: Byrnes High School
Position: Defensive Lineman
Notes: Everett Dawkins of Byrnes High just might be the hottest recruit in the Palmetto State.
Dawkins earned a scholarship offer from Florida State after attending their camp last month, and he has since garnered scholarship offers from Tennessee, NC State, Florida International, and Michigan State. Now he has a total of 10 offers, including Virginia Tech, Illinois, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, and Maryland.
At 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, Dawkins could play defensive end or grow into a defensive tackle, but he seems to be a natural fit at defensive end in a 3-4 scheme. Despite facing double teams much of his junior season, he still managed to record 46 solo tackles, 56 assists, three sacks, and 18 tackles for loss.
It appears that Dawkins will not rush into a decision and weigh all of his scholarship offers, as more could be coming in the near future.
Dawkins Quote: "I've got quick feet and I use my hands well. I'm strong and pretty quick for a guy my size."
Scouting Report: "Gap control defensive tackle in high school with excellent lower body force and explosion off the ball. Loves his gaps and rarely has to go across the face of an offensive lineman. Plays in a unique system where he moves around often at the snap which causes confusion and helps his ability to get into the backfield where he is quick to react to plays. Biggest question for him will be size and where he plays. May not be a true defensive tackle or defensive end right now, and that could push him into becoming a "system" recruit. Other than that, he has great hands, footwork is excellent, and can be a solid strongside defensive end early in his career." -- Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Miller Safrit
