I think he's taken his duties as captain seriously. I think he's trying to be a leader up front, he's working hard to be a fundamentally sound player and be a leader on defense.
Thoughts on today's practice:
It was a little muggy, but I think they worked through it. We're just a bunch of guys trying to get better.
What do you like about the defense thus far?
I think they are grasping what we're trying to get done. The zone principles, incorporating the man with that... I think the secondary is doing well. Obviously the defensive line, we have a couple of guys with experience up front and we're breaking in a couple of other younger guys so they are helping out a lot. They are working hard and they are trying to get better each and every practice.
Thoughts on defensive coordinator Mike Archer:
No. 1, he's knowledgeable. He understands the game of football and he knows what he wants to accomplish on defense and how he wants to accomplish those things.
I think he is doing a good job right now of evaluating his talent. We've still got to figure out who we are first before we figure out what we're totally going to commit ourself to and I think he will be very good at doing that.
Have you found depth at linebacker?
Well, no you know we still have the same guys. We're not bringing anybody new in... you can't buy anybody off the waiver wire.
The kids we have are working hard, and we'll create depth by playing. They'll figure out that if they practice hard and are good enough to get in the game they are going to play. We may play six, we may play seven if we have to.
