PC: Brown, Evans, and Beck Meet the Media

RALEIGH, NC -- NC State players Daniel Evans, Harrison Beck, and Martrel Brown met with the media today to discuss the season opener against Central Florida.

Daniel Evans

"I guess just everything that I've been working for since the end of last year really... it will be fun competing against somebody other than your own teammates for a change."

"I felt like I played well and performed well enough and executed the offense well enough throughout the spring and early on in camp, but there is no use in trying to figure out what a coach could be thinking."

"I guess I felt like I was good enough and I am good enough to go out there and win games for us on Saturday. Whether that means they made the right decision or not, we'll see."

"I feel like I've learned from them and that's going to only make me a better player... learning through those mistakes."

"I feel better about just recognizing defensive coverages through just our film work already that we've done."

"When we go out on the field I feel like I know what I'm looking at when I'm back there. I'm not guessing, I'm not trying to decide. I feel like I can see what's going on and I'm making pretty quick decisions."

"I feel like I'm going to be a better quarterback because of that this year."

"We've got the athletes to do it. We've got a proven coaching staff that's done it before for however many years they've done it at Boston College."

Harrison Beck

"I thought camp went well. Football, at the end of the day, it's a game and you try to play as hard as you can."

"I don't really believe in the whole experience thing. How is another quarterback going to get better if he doesn't get experience? Dan got his shot to get experience last year. Obviously it helped him. I'm not going to say that... it helped him very much."

"I just went into the meeting with an open mind. I think Dan did too. It really wasn't all that disappointing for me because he did say Dan was going to be the starter, but he also said that I'm going to get a chance to play in the game. That's really all I ask for is just the opportunity at some point to do that. I'm going to continue to practice hard."

"Dan is a competitor. He's a good guy. He's an intelligent quarterback and he manages things well. I'm sure all of that went into the deciding factor."

"He just said at some point. We'll see what happens."

"I'm still a young quarterback... I'm only 19 years old so I still have a lot I can work on, improve, and get better at. It's certainly not the end of the road for me. I'm going to continue to go out there and keep trying to progress as a quarterback."

Martrel Brown

"You have to be aggressive. That's just football, period. If you're not aggressive in football you shouldn't be playing this game."

"The thing about our defensive line, coach stresses on getting your man into the backfield."

"John Bedics has stepped in and kind of done a good thing for the defensive line."

"DeMario does think he can play. We were outside the other day testing his strength. It's pretty strong, but whatever the trainer says I guess that goes."
