We had our first game last night, and it went alright. We were playing Lumberton, and I think the score ended up being 34-6. I finished with 13 tackles, and I only played in the first half because coach wanted to rest me and let some of the other guys get in.
Our defensive starters were not scored on, and that was big for us. That was what we were trying to do. On offense I think we have to pick it up. We've got to pick it up with our blocking, running the ball, and just playing a little harder. I have confidence in them though. I know they can get it done.
Damonte Terry is starting to get that feeling for what to do at running back. He is a straight-forward runner, and he's becoming a lot stronger. Demonte is only a junior, but he will be a huge factor for us this year.

It was one of those games where you come out with a lot of emotion, especially because it was the season opener. We were all hyped up and I felt the adrenaline, but when we started playing, everything was calm. That's how it is for me. It's back to playing football.
I haven't heard too much about the games yet with the other teams in my conference, but somebody told me that 71st lost. I know they are suppose to be good. That was a shock. I also heard that Marlboro ended up beating Cheraw so there was a lot of upsets.
We've got Marlboro next so we have to be ready for him. It's like a rivalry game for us.
Monday, August 27 (8:50 P.M.)
Practice was good today. We have Marlboro coming up and we've been trying to getting more speed on the field so we're moving around some of our guys.
We are still in the 3-5, but we ended up shifting a linebacker up to nose guard so we can get even faster. We've really working on a bunch of different schemes.
|"I think we're too talented."|
I've been thinking about this game a lot, and to be honst, I dont think they can beat us. I think we're too talented to get beat by them this week.
I kind of feel like I know what they are going to try and do against our defense, and we will be ready for it. They are going to try and run the ball right at us, and that is one thing I don't think they will be sucessful doing because we have a lot of speed on our defense. We have to stop that run first.
I do think they have a few good receivers. After trying to run the ball they will want to establish the pass. Like I said, they have a couple of receivers they can throw to, but I don't think it is anybody too serious... anybody our cornerbacks can't cover. And when they start trying to pass, that will allow me to blitz more. That's something I really want to do.
After I get done with my homework tonight, I'm going to go back and look over their offense some more.

School just started back down here in Laurinburg, and it sems like we have a lot more students this year for some reason. I don't know why, it just seems like the halls are a lot more busier.
I'm taking four core courses and all of them count towards my credits so I've buckled down in the classroom. Everything seems kind of easy so far, and I'm about to finish up this Trigonometry that I have to turn in tomorrow.
I think I will need another core course to graduate early. I've got to get back with my coach about that because I haven't heard much from him on setting that up. I konw we've been real busy with the season. I'm still looking into doing that so I can enroll up at State early, but I think my time has started to run out.
"I plan on getting
in touch with Dwayne Maddox."
On the field, I've been playing more inside linebacker this week in practice. I played there a lot last year because being there in the middle I can go from sideline-to-sideline. The coaches want to me to just run around and make big plays. I'm doing what is best for my team to win.
I am calling the coaches at NC State tomorrow to find out the information about the game this weekend. I can't wait to get up there for the season opener. I plan on getting in touch with Dwayne Maddox and everybody else to find out if they are going to the game. Even if they don't, I will be there. Right now I think it is going to be me, my father, and Damonte Terry is going to go up there for the game with us.
It is a big week. School is back in, we have a game with Marlboro on Friday, and I will be up in Raleigh for their first game on Saturday.
