DT Anthony Garner from Jordan Matthews High School in Siler City, NC has been a favorite of many NC State recruiting fans since Pack Pride first profiled him last March. The 6-1, 295 pound defensive lineman has been a steady Wolfpack lean for months and continues to await a scholarship offer from State. Pack Pride caught up with him recently for the latest on how his recruiting is progressing.
"Well, you know I was out at camp but coach Willis told me it would be September before he could talk to me again. My coach did tell me that State called and wants to see some of my film from the first few games.
"State is still my top school. The thing with State is I really like going there and they always treat me good. They're one of the top engineering schools and that's another reason I like them. I know my dad really wants me to go to State. I'm just gonna have to wait it out and pray they offer."
In addition to camping at NC State, Garner also made stops at Virginia Tech and UNC. He's also continuing to receive interest from those schools as well as East Carolina and Marshall.
So far this season Garner has played a large role defensively in helping Jordan Matthews to a 3-0 record. He has split time at both defensive end and defensive tackle although he projects at DT on the collegiate level.
