Pack Pride Basketball Recruiting Board

NC State is looking to add quality depth with its 2012 recruiting class after inking a solid class in 2011. The Wolfpack already has a commitment from Forsyth Country Day (NC) standout Tyler Lewis, one of the top point guards in the country and five-star shooting guard Torian Graham.

The Pack Pride Recruiting Board is in no way connected with the NC State coaching staff. This board is for our readers to remain updated with the recruitment of players who have shown an interest in NC State and/or received interest from the Wolfpack.

2012 and 2013 prospects are listed according to their interest through media outlets, various sources, etc... The 2013 list includes potential prospects who either have or could emerge as legitimate NC State targets.

We will update this board throughout the recruiting year when new information is reported.

NOTE: With Tyler Lewis and Torian Graham in the fold, NC State currently has two scholarships available to use on the 2012 recruiting class. The Wolfpack will have another four scholarships, at minimum, available for 2013 following the graduation of Scott Wood, Jordan Vandenberg, Deshawn Painter, and Richard Howell.

2011 Signees
NC State has signed three prospects in the 2011 class.

PF Tyler Harris []
Hometown: Dix Hills, NY
High School: Half Hollow Hills West
Vitals: 6-8/180

The younger brother of Tennessee freshman standout Tobias Harris, Tyler signed with NC State last fall after considering St. John's, Iowa, and Providence among others.

A combo forward with terrific length and a strong perimeter stroke, Harris is capable of contributing at both forward positions.

"I think I can play the three or the four," he said. "I can definitely play multiple spots, but my my positions are the three and the four.

"I'm trying to work hard and keep improving my game because the coaches told me that they are turning a new page and everybody is going to have to compete. Nothing is guaranteed to anyone, so I know that I'm going to have to work hard and compete as soon as I get down to North Carolina State."

Harris averaged 18 points and eight rebounds a game for St. Benedict's, one of the top programs in the country, this past season.

He will enroll at NC State over the summer.

SG Jaqawn Raymond [NR]
Hometown: Statesboro, GA
High School: Statesboro High School
Vitals: 6-4/180

Raymond signed with NC State in early April after meeting with the new coaches in Statesboro.

Raymond averaged 23 points, six rebounds, and three steals as a senior, leading Statesboro to a 20-10 record and a playoff appearance.

"He had a great year," Statesboro head coach Lee Hill previously stated. "I play him at the one and the two... he was a great offensive player for us. He can shoot the three, and he's very athletic. He's a strong outside shooter, and he plays good defense... a true combo guard.

"Jaqawn isn't our biggest vocal leader, but he leads with his play on the floor. He works extremely hard, and he has a high basketball IQ."

Raymond will likely be a contributor as a true freshman, given NC State's lack of depth at the guard positions.

PF Thomas De Thaey [NR]
Hometown: Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canarias
High School: Canarias Basketball Academy
Vitals: 6-8/235

De Thaey signed with NC State in May after landing an offer from the Wolfpack coaching staff.

Recruited by NC State assistant Bobby Lutz, De Thaey averaged 15 points and eight rebounds this past season for CBA, playing on a roster that featured multiple Division I signees.

"I'm an all-around player that can shoot the three-pointer and post up," said De Thaey. "I feel comfortable driving the basketball, and I also love to rebound... I can take bigger opponents outside and go at them one-on-one."

De Thaey had options. He was considering programs like Washington and Wake Forest when NC State became involved, but after the Wolfpack offered he knew that was where he wanted to play.

"I signed with NC State because I can compete and play against the best players in the country every day," said De Thaey. "I have great confidence in the team and in the coaching staff as well."

A native of Belgium, De Thaey has an obligation to his national team that he will fulfill before heading to NC State. The 6-foot-8, 235-pounder will play in the European Under 20 Championships. The tournament, which is being held in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), starts on July 14th with the final game being played on July 24th.

He played in the tournament last season and averaged 8.4 points and 6.8 rebounds. Following the event, he will be looking towards accomplishing goals he has already set for himself and his team.

2012 Commitments
NC State has a commitment from one of the top point guards in the country and a five-star shooting guard.

PG Tyler Lewis []
Hometown: Lewisville, NC
High School: Forsyth Country Day
Vitals: 5-11/170

NC State landed a big commitment last fall when in-state standout Tyler Lewis gave the Pack his word, and the new coaching staff came in and made it a priority to firm up his commitment from the beginning.

Lewis was extremely pleased with the hire, given his relationship with assistant coaches Rob Moxley and Bobby Lutz, who offered him a scholarship when they were at Charlotte.

Lewis is a point guard who can score and distribute, and he is considered one of the top passers in his class. More importantly, he is a winner. He consistently makes deep runs in AAU Tournaments with Team Loaded, and he's had success with Forsyth Country Day.

He is rated the No. 56 prospect overall the No. 8 point guard in the country by

SG Torian Graham []
Hometown: Chapel Hill, NC
School: Pace Academy
Vitals: 6-4/175

Graham earned an offer from the previous staff at NC State after starring at their team camp with his former school, Durham Hillside. The new coaching staff came in and made him a priority and secured a huge verbal commitment from Graham in late May.

"I always had them in mind," Graham said of NC State. "I decided to take a visit when the coaches came in and everything moved quickly from there. It seemed like I was able to build a great relationship with the coaches right away... things just took off."

He is an explosive athlete that can score from mid-range or attack the rim off the bounce. He played last season at Word of God Christian Academy but is in the process of selecting a new school.

Graham is rated the No. 25 prospect overall the No. 7 shooting guard in the country by

2012 Targets
NC State currently has three scholarships remaining for the 2012 recruiting class. Here is a list of potential targets with the July Evaluation Period looming.

SG Rodney Purvis []
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
High School: Upper Room
Vitals: 6-4/185

One of the elite prospects in the country, Purvis re-classified to the 2012 class last year and hasn't missed a beat.

He committed to Louisville in the fall, but earlier this spring he re-opened his recruitment and a host of programs became involved.

However, he has already released a list of three schools under consideration, and most close to his recruitment would be shocked if he didn't end up at one of those three schools.

He is building a strong relationship with the Wolfpack coaching staff, and Purvis also has a good relationship with Tyler Lewis, Torian Graham, and some of the current Wolfpack players. Given NC State is the hometown school, a lot of folks believe the Pack is in good shape.

NC State assistant Orlando Early is recruiting Purvis for the Wolfpack.

Purvis is rated the No. 8 prospect overall the No. 2 shooting guard in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State (offer), Duke, and Missouri

SF T.J. Warren []
Hometown: Raleigh, NC
High School: Brewster Academy
Vitals: 6-8/215

A prolific scorer, Warren is a terrific talent. He can score on all three levels and is dangerous playing with the ball in his hands or working to get open.

T.J. is the son of former NC State player Tony Warren. He recently transferred from Word of God Christian Academy to Brewster Academy in New Hampshire.

NC State is believed to be heavily in the mix along with Florida, Georgetown, and Ohio State. North Carolina and Duke are involved now as well.

NC State assistant Bobby Lutz is recruiting Lucas for the Wolfpack.

Warren is rated the No. 46 prospect overall the No. 8 small forward in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: North Carolina, NC State (offer), Duke, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Xavier, Georgetown, Florida, Ohio State, and Kansas among others

SF Jerami Grant []
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
School: DeMatha Catholic
Vitals: 6-7/190

Lanky forward has been dominant this spring, as he has flashed an improved perimeter game and is athletic around the rim.

Grant has great bloodlines, as his dad, Harvey, played several seasons in the NBA and his two older brothers, Jerai and Jerain play at Clemson and Notre Dame respectively.

Grant took an unofficial visit to NC State last month and is developing a good relationship with assistant Rob Moxley.

"It went well," said Grant. "I definitely like the facility they have, the new one. I like the campus, I got to look around a little bit."

Grant is rated the No. 28 prospect overall the No. 4 small forward in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State (offer), Clemson, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Rutgers and Maryland among others

PF Anthony Bennett []
Hometown: Toronto, Canada
School: Findlay Prep
Vitals: 6-7/230

Bennett has been one of the top prep players in the country this spring. He's flying up the rankings and adding offers along the way.

A slightly undersized post player, Bennett makes up for it with explosive athleticism and a body that is chiseled. He can dominate on the glass with his strength and ability to play above the rim which makes up somewhat for his lack of pure size.

He needs to refine his skill game to be able to play facing the basket given his height.

NC State assistant Rob Moxley is working hard to keep the Wolfpack in the mix, and Bennett is wide open at this point.

Bennett is rated the No. 66 prospect overall the No. 15 power forward in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State (offer), UCONN, Florida, Kentucky, Duke, Virginia, Arizona, and West Virginia among others

SG Katin Reinhardt []
Hometown: Santa Ana, CA
School: Mater Dei
Vitals: 6-4/175

Reinhardt earned an offer from NC State this spring shortly after decommitting from Southern Cal.

"Their interest has been very high since I decommitted," Reinhardt said of the Wolfpack. "NC State is a great school. It's a big-time school, and the atmosphere out there is unreal. They have been recruiting me for the last few weeks and decided to offer me [yesterday]. I like them a lot.

"It's a rising program. They are getting back to the top, and the coaching staff is great too."

He is an explosive athlete that can score in a variety of ways but is also capable of setting up his teammates for scoring opportunities.

NC State assistant Bobby Lutz is recruiting Reinhardt for the Wolfpack.

Reinhardt is rated the No. 59 prospect overall the No. 11 shooting guard in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State (offer), Arizona State, Arizona, Baylor, Florida, and Syracuse among others

PG James Robinson []
Hometown: Hyattsville, MD
High School: DeMatha
Vitals: 6-3/200

Robinson is the floor general for Team Takeover, arguably the top team on the AAU circuit.

A crafty point guard who values the basketball and runs his team, Robinson exhibits terrific leadership qualities and wins games.

NC State is involved in his recruitment, but most believe it could be tough to land him given the presence of Lewis. However, Robinson sounds like he could be open to the idea of teaming up with the Pack's four-star verbal.

"The new coaching staff at NC State, I've had a chance to talk to them a couple of times," said Robinson. "It seems like they have the program headed in the right direction. Tyler Lewis is going there, and they have a couple of other real good players there already. They are going to be a strong program.

"If that's the decision I make I think we can do some great things there."

NC State assistant Rob Moxley is recruiting Robinson for the Wolfpack.

He's now rated a three-star prospect and the No. 19 point guard in the 2012 class.

COLLEGE LIST: Georgetown, Miami, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, NC State, and Virginia among others

SG Andrew White []
Hometown: Charlottesville, VA
High School: The Miller School
Vitals: 6-6/195

White reclassified and it has certainly helped his recruitment, as he is tracking as a high-major recruit.

White is playing with Tyler Lewis and Team Loaded on the AAU circuit, and July will be a vital month for his recruitment given he missed the last evaluation period with a hip injury.

He already holds several offers, but a big-time July could lead to even more.

White is rated the No. 91 player in the country by and the No. 18 shooting guard prospect in the 2012 class.

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, South Florida, Virginia, Miami, George Mason, and Virginia Tech among others

C Landen Lucas []
Hometown: Portland, Ore.
High School: Findlay Prep
Vitals: 6-9/240

Lucas recently picked up an offer from NC State, and he has the Wolfpack on his list.

"They were real quick to come at me and offered, and I appreciate that," Lucas said of NC State. "It means they have a true interest in me, there is no question about it. I guess there is a new staff in there so I want to hear what they have to say, but obviously there is good history there.

"I'm looking forward to playing in front of them this summer so they can see how I fit into their offense and they can then tell me how I fit in with them."

His offensive game is still rounding into shape, but his upside has piqued the interest of several high-major programs.

NC State assistant Rob Moxley is recruiting Lucas for the Wolfpack.

Lucas is currently rated the No. 89 prospect overall and the No. 20 center in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: N.C. State, Kansas, Arizona, Arizona State, Washington, Oregon, and Oregon State among others

PF Amile Jefferson []
Hometown: Wynnewood, PA
High School: Friends' Central
Vitals: 6-8/190

A big-time prospect, Jefferson blew up at the NBPA Top 100 Camp where he led the event in scoring. A wiry post, Jefferson can score in a variety of ways and plays with passion and intelligence.

NC State assistant Rob Moxley is heading up his recruitment for the Wolfpack, and Jefferson is definitely interested.

"NC State is a great program in the ACC," said Jefferson. "They have a couple of guys committed already that are really good players, and I enjoy talking to their coaching staff. I'm hoping to get down there for a visit soon so I can learn even more about the school."

Jefferson is currently rated the No. 21 prospect overall and the No. 7 power forward in the country by

COLLEGE LIST: Villanova, N.C. State, Maryland, Wake Forest and Miami among others

SF Arnaud Moto []
Hometown: Alexandria, VA
High School: Episcopal
Vitals: 6-6/210

One of the top athletes in his class, Moto attacks the rim whenever he touches the basketball and is a terrific on-ball defender.

He burst on the scene with big-time outings at Boo Williams and Dallas, and he has started to land multiple high-major offers.

Last week he visited NC State, Wake Forest, and Virginia Tech, and like his Team Takeover teammates James Robinson and Jerai Grant he is being recruited by Rob Moxley.

Moto is ranked the No. 49 prospect in the nation and the No. 10 small forward by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State (offer), Wake Forest, Virginia Tech, Maryland, UCLA, Stanford, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, and WVU among others

SF Devonta Pollard []
Hometown: De Kalb, MS
High School: Kemper County
Vitals: 6-7/195

One of the top athletes in his class, Pollard is a prototype combo forward who is very similar to current NC State standout C.J. Leslie.

He was named MVP of the 2011 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, and he took an unofficial visit to NC State following the event.

"We looked at the gym, the weight room, and the facilities," said Pollard. "I know they are building some more stuff too. Because we had to get back, I talked to the coaches and we're trying to get back up there for another visit.

"The coaches at NC State are nice. It seems like if a player goes there they would be comfortable and the coaches would take care of them. It's a nice place."

NC State assistant Orlando Early is recruiting Pollard for the Wolfpack.

Pollard is ranked the No. 31 prospect in the nation by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State (offer), Duke, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Alabama among others

SG Marqueze Coleman [NR]
Hometown: Mission Hills, CA
High School: Bishop Alemany
Vitals: 6-3/170

Coleman is a prospect NC State will be watching closely during the Evaluation Period.

An AAU teammate of Katin Reinhardt's, Coleman is one of the better shooting guard prospects in the west for 2012. A good athlete with a solid body, he has improved significantly in the last year.

Coleman is not ranked by

COLLEGE LIST: NC State, Tennessee, Baylor, Colorado, Stanford, and Portland among others

PF Brice Johnson []
Hometown: Cordova, SC
High School: Edisto
Vitals: 6-9/195

Johnson is another prospect that NC State will be watching closely over the next few weeks, as he is suiting up with Rodney Purvis on the CP3 All-Stars.

He has been linked to in-state programs Clemson and South Carolina, but Florida is believed to be in the mix as well.

Long and athletic, most thought he could break out at the NBPA Camp but he was sidelined early with a concussion.

COLLEGE LIST: Clemson, South Carolina, NC State, Florida, and Ohio State among others
