Raymond Brooks (6'4" 245 4.5) and teammate Darrell Blackman (6'0" 195 4.4) have lead Williamsport to a 6-0 start while earning a Top 5 ranking. Both prospects are making a name for themselves in the process. Brooks has done it on both sides of the ball as well as special teams.
We asked Brooks to give us an updated list of his top schools. "I have 17 offers. NC State, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan State, and Miami are my top 5. All those except Miami have made offers" said Raymond.
Most schools are recruiting the two way star as a defensive player. "They (recruiters) are mainly calling me on the weekends right now. They talk to me about playing outside linebacker or defensive lineman" said Brooks.
While the colleges are looking at him as a potential defensive player, the Pennsylvania High School competition is seeing Raymond on all sides of the ball. As a fullback, he has already scored seven touchdowns. However, the most amazing achievement may be his special team play. Brooks told TSW, "I have returned two kick-offs for touchdowns. Both were ninety-five yard returns."
Raymond has the size and speed that has most college recruiters drooling. The 6'4" frame holds 245 pounds, but the speed he has is what sets him apart from most defensive lineman. "I have my time (40) down to 4.5. I am quick on the line. It is hard for me to get any defensive stats. The offenses keep running away from me."
Brooks only has one official visit lined up for now. Brooks said "Darrell and I are going to NC State December the 6th. Coach Cignetti is recruiting us. I will line more up later."
A decision is not imminent. "I have no leader right now." Raymond said "I will make my decision after all my visits. Probably in January."
