The news was music to Elton's ears and a just reward for all his years of hard work.
"I am real excited," said Ford. "I have been waiting for this for so long. They are talking about me playing safety and that is just fine with me."
The Wolfpack coaching staff has had their eye on Ford for some time.
"Some of the coaches there came from Boston College and they were recruiting me when they were up there," explained Elton. "When they moved to NC State they just keep recruiting me. I really like the coaches there and NC State is a good program. They are a program that is trying to come up and I like that. I am going to visit there in December."
From the looks of things, NC State may soon have some competition for Elton's signing day signature.
"I am getting calls from Louisville, Wake Forest, Boston College, Michigan State, Arkansas, Middle Tennessee and a few more," said Ford. "I may have five or six more offers in the next few weeks. A lot of people are talking about it."
While Elton is excited about the prospects of playing at a high level next season, he still has a lot of work to do this season to finish of his prep campaign on a high note.
"We're 4-1 right now," said Ford. "I am playing lights out. This past game I had two or three highlight hits and I blocked a punt. I had five or six receptions and we won 28-14. We're having a good year."
