Big man playing in a tough place

TSW called to check on the progress of Saint Johns High School player Conrad Bolston (DL/OL), who is considering NC State. We also learned that his Washington DC school is under lock down after the recent sniper attacks.

The Insiders has Conrad Bolston (6'4" 260) ranked as the #14 lineman in the nation. Colleges up and down the east coast have also taken notice. We asked Conrad to list the schools he is considering. "Florida, Maryland, Tennessee, NC State, UNC, and Virginia are the main ones, but I am hearing from more colleges everyday. Ohio State has begun recruiting me pretty hard."

Bolston camped at Maryland this year and we asked him if they were his favorite. "I just know them better right now. I know the people there. They have been recruiting me hard since I camped there."

We also asked Conrad why NC State was in his early list. "Dick Portee is recruiting me. They have a solid team with good cohesive people. It just seems like a fun place to play at. I hope to get down to see the FSU game in Raleigh."

The college recruiters opinions are varied in regards to Conrad's future position and Bolston seems content in playing either. "Some schools are recruiting me as an OL and some as a DL or D end. I play both, but people probably consider me mostly on the defensive side of the ball."

Saint Johns has a 3-3 record after the first half of the year. According to Bolston, he has 5 sacks and is averaging 7 tackles per game. He also has one safety to his credit.

Toward the end of the interview, the conversation turned quickly from recruiting to the recent sniper shootings in the DC area. TSW asked about the dangers his team has faced in the last week. "We have had to move our practices inside. I am not sure what we will do on Friday night. People get killed all the time in DC, but people just don't know it. Its kind of bad right now."
