"Right now I have those four offers from Maryland, Rutgers, Boston College and North Carolina State," Carson said. "I have also been contacted by Virginia, North Carolina, Connecticut, Notre Dame, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Duke, Syracuse and Pittsburgh to name a few."
"When I went to Maryland the dates got mixed up, so I didn't really have a tour guide and just walked around the campus myself," Carson stated. "Unfortunately I didn't get to meet the coaches while I was there, but I saw some of the facilities and think Maryland is a good school with a solid football program."
"Rutgers has been recruiting me since I was a freshman and gave me my first scholarship offer and do a great job recruiting really hard in New Jersey," Carson explained. "I like the family atmosphere there and feel very close with both Coach Greg Schiano and Coach Joe Susan. I know Jack Corcoran, Kevin Malast and Alex Silvestro pretty well too which is good. I actually made it to the state championship match last season in wrestling for my weight class and ended up losing to Alex. I was at the South Florida game which was great because the crowd was so into it and just made it a fun experience. I really do like Rutgers a lot."
"Boston College is another program that started recruiting me very early and I really want to get up to a home game so I can check out Chestnut Hill. I like that the kids there fight until the end because I think that reflects a lot of my character, so I could see myself as a Boston College guy. They just have a very good program there."
"My high school coach is very good friends with Dana Bible who is the offensive coordinator at North Carolina State and I think he is a super-nice guy," Carson added. "The staff made me feel very much at home there and the facilities were awesome, especially the weight room."
Football runs in the family as Carson's uncle Tom Higgins played for North Carolina State in the 70's and went onto the NFL to play with the Giants and Bills. His other uncle Dan Higgins also played for them in the 80's. His grandfather played at North Carolina and then for the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Cardinals in the NFL.
He carries a core GPA of 3.45.
Carson wrestles in the 215-pound weight class and lost in the state final match last season to Alex Silvestro, currently of Rutgers.
