Practice Report: Owen Spencer

Freshman wide receiver Owen Spencer discussed his role in the team's win over Virginia, the improving offense and Saturday's game against the Hurricanes.

Owen Spencer

On his 30-yard reception against Virginia:
"It was a big catch, I was pumped for it hoping it was going to happen. I was telling the coach on the sideline that the cornerback couldn't run with any of our receivers and so I was just hoping the my opportunity would come."

On seeing more playing time:
"When a big name guy like [Dunlap] falls down other have to step up. Him and all the other upper class are teaching us these things and when they are out they expect for us to step in their place and be the playmakers."

On the increased confidence of the offense:
"It started in practice two weeks ago. After the bye week we just said it was a new season. We came out fired up, we had a good week in practice we executed offense and defense. We just executed every play and everybody felt good about."

On Daniel Evans :
"We have been going up and getting the balls and using the right techniques. When he throws it up we have to attack it and not just run under it. He'll lay it up for us and we just have to go get it – he has to have confidence in us and we have to have confidence in him."
