NC State appears destined to take at least one wide receiver in the class of 2008. While most Pack fans have had five-star prospect Deion Walker from Christchurch, Va, on their recruiting boards for months, many may not be as familiar with WR Keith Stroud from Fork Union (Va) Military Academy. However, the Wolfpack has ramped on their interest in his talents over the last several weeks and Pack Pride caught up with him for the latest.
Originally from Fort Hamilton High School in Brooklyn, NY, Stroud put together a tremendous senior season while helping his team to a perfect 13-0 record. Along the way, he totaled 41 pass receptions for 614 yards and nine touchdowns. He also hauled in an amazing seven pass receptions on two-point conversions that resulted in additional 14 points.
This season, Stroud is playing for Fork Union and has established himself as a go-to receiver. Through an 8-2 start, he’s collected 35 receptions for close to 600 yards and six touchdowns. At 6-4, 205 pounds, the three-star wide receiver according to Scout.com has been timed as low as 4.53-seconds in the 40-yard dash. That combination of size, speed and production on the field has led to interest from a ton of schools, including NC State.
“Right now my offers are from Ole Miss, Temple, Washington State, Cincinnati and Michigan State,” said Stroud. “I’m also getting a lot of interest from NC State, Oregon, Tennessee, Connecticut, Syracuse, Auburn and Louisville.”
Stroud will make an official visit to Temple next weekend and has another visit set up with Ole Miss for the weekend of Nov 16. NC State hasn’t established an official visit with the standout wide receiver just yet but the Pack has certainly caught his attention.
“I really like NC State right now and they’re definitely one of my top schools,” he said. “I really like their offensive philosophy of getting the ball to their skill players and allowing them to make plays. I was really hoping to hear from State and I would love to visit them soon.”
Stroud says he will be eligible to enroll early and for now, has five schools at the top of his early wish-list.
“My top five would be South Carolina, Temple, NC State, Oregon and Louisville.”
Stay tuned as Pack Pride will have much more on WR Keith Stroud.
