Practice Report: Kalani Heppe

Offensive lineman Kalani Heppe discusses the improvement of the offensive line and this week's match-up with rival North Carolina.

Kalani Heppe

On the play of the offensive line as a whole
"It's been unbelievable how much we've improved. We started off and we had a couple of guys on the line who had never started a game – but everything has really come together the last three or four weeks."

On the improvement of Jake Vermiglio
"Jake has played awesome. He came in and he kind of got baptized by fire that first game – he got booted and what not. The next week he came in here and did an unbelievable job against the arguably the best defensive end in the country."

On playing against the UNC defensive line
"It's going to be a great challenge for us. It's really going to test our metal, see if we are as good as we have been the last couple of weeks. They do a lot of things – they are big boys and use their hands really well, they have some speed. It's going to be a lot of fun, it's gonna be kind of a hard-hitting deal."

On the importance of beating UNC
"It means a lot. Me and Yomi [Ojo] were talking, we were red-shirts the last time we beat them. Since we've been on the field neither one of us has beaten them. That has a lot to do with it."
