Linney Still Solid for the Pack

Kyle Linney is currently at Hargrave Military Academy working on his academics. He gives Pack Pride the latest, including his status with NC State and when he plans to enroll in college.

Originally from Alexander Central High School in Taylorsville, NC, DT Kyle Linney has spent the past season at Hargrave Military Academy. Linney fell short on the required SAT score for admission into college as a freshman after committing to NC State back in November of 2006. Linney was on hand for NC State's contest with Maryland this past Saturday and said that he's till firmly in the Pack's corner.

"Yes, I'm still committed to NC State," said Linney. "I had to get my SAT score up and I've got that so I'm qualified. I could actually enroll now but I'm going to wait and I'll be enrolling in January."

Linney made the trip to Raleigh this past weekend with current teammate and Wolfpack prospect, OL Sam Jones. Linney said Jones is still evaluating his options but the Pack is certainly on the radar.

"Yeah, Sam is basically still shopping around looking at schools," said Linney. "I know that he was wanting to play defense but State likes him on offense. I'm not sure what he's going to do but I know he's looking at State."

At 6-2, 300 pounds, Linney is rated a three-star prospect by As a senior in high school he recorded 67 tackles and was selected to the 2006 Shrine Bowl.

Shrine Bowl Scouting Report: "Kyle Linney surprised me with his size, and is certainly 6-3/285 and will be a solid contributor as a nose tackle in college. He has some skinny legs that will need to add some muscle to before getting pushed back in the middle of he line. Plays very low off the ball and active in the middle with his hands and footwork moving laterally. A bit inconsistent, shows flashes of his potential against the run. Plays hard." -- Recruiting Analyst Miller Safrit
