Pack makes slight progress

N.C. State's 74-49 victory over visiting South Carolina State wasn't a terrific performance by any means, but it was a slight step forward. First and foremost, the Wolfpack was ready to play from the outset. The team was intense and had an improved spirit. Gavin Grant and J.J. Hickson played hard and with passion again. Grant may take some ill-advised shots on occasion, but his effort shouldn't be questioned. And based on how he and Hickson appear to get along, the team's top two scorers have certainly aligned themselves together. Read More

North Carolina State's 6-foot-9 Brandon Costner simply reached over 5-11 Jessie Burton for the rebound. Costner passed the ball to Simon Harris, who whipped a no-look pass to 6-9 center J.J. Hickson under the basket. Hickson was hacked as he went up for the shot. It was about the only way South Carolina State could stop the Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon at the RBC Center. Read More
