Monday, December 31 (5:00 P.M.)
I arrived down here in Orlando at about 12:00 yesterday and got settled in real good. I'm rooming with Brandon Barnes, and that's going real good. We're getting to know each other and talking about what it's going to be like for us when we get to NC State.

It's good hanging with him, and I've been spending some time with E.J. Manuel and Deion Walker too. We actally ate dinner together yesterday... me, Brandon, E.J. and Deion.

Practices started today, and I think I did pretty good. I feel I did much better in the afternoon, but both practices went pretty well.

The speed of the game is a lot different because everyone down here is fast, but I think I've adjusted well. The terminology is different... that's been the hardest part for me. It's starting to come together, and I felt I made a lot of nice throws this afternoon. I think the best throw I probably had was a pass I made rolling out. On the rollout, I threw a deep ball back across the field. It would have been for a touchdown... it was probably about 50 yards down the field.

I'm rooming with Brandon Barnes."

Another thing is we're doing straight shotgun. That's a lot different for me because like I said before I've probably had less than 10 snaps out of the shotgun in my entire high school career. The thing is, I think it is a much easier transition for me to go to shotgun than it would be if I had to go from always being in the shotgun to under the center.

So that part hasn't been hard for me... it's just the exact opposite of what I've been used to. The only thing is the plays are longer and the terminology is a lot different. That's probably been the toughest part, but it was just the first day so I think by the end of the week I'll be a lot more comfortable with it. I'm just trying to have fun and keep getting better.

It's really exciting down here because I know I'm playing with a lot of guys who are going to be in the NFL one day... they are the best players from around the nation. I haven't seen the Silver team practice, but on my team Jermie Calhoun, the running back, is very good, and Julio Jones is very good. There is another receiver down here who is real good too... I think he's going to Florida State.

I'm not sure what we're going to do tonight. I just finished eating with Brandon and we have a meeting at 7:30. I think after that we might be hanging out in the lounge and watching some games. They haven't told us exactly, but that's my guess.

I'll check back in after tomorrow's afternoon practice.
