"I'm solid for the Pack," said Ford. "I met with the coaches from State last week and I've talked to them and they're just telling me that the Pack is where I need to be.
"I had been talking to the coaches at Arkansas and I've got to let them know. I pretty much just decided that I'm not going to visit there so I still need to tell them. For me, I'm planning to sign with State and I'm with the Wolfpack."
Ford's announcement would appear to put an end to quite a bit of speculation surrounding his recruiting over the last several weeks. At one point it appeared that he would follow through with an official visit to Arkansas. However, sources indicated that NC State likely would not have honored his scholarship offer if that visit occurred.
Rated a three-star prospect and the No. 38 weak-side linebacker in the nation by Scout.com, Ford had better than 100 tackles and four picks this past season en route to all-state honors. At 6-2, 200 pounds, Ford will begin his career at safety for NC State.
