Name: Zach Allen
Hometown: Tifton, GA
High School: Tift County High School
Position: Left Tackle/Left Guard
Notes: A two-time All-State selection, Allen is regarded as one of the top offensive linemen in the state of Georgia. He burst on the recruiting scene last spring following an outstanding performance at the 2007 Athens Camp.
"Zach is a real physical and just very athletic," said Tift County head coach Jay Walls. "He really has all the tools that you look for in a lineman. He has great feet. We run a lot of screens and he does a good job of getting out front and maintaining his blocks for our backs... that isn't an easy thing to do.
"A lot of times those camps and combines aren't good for kids, but they really have helped out Zach," added coach Walls. "It's been good for him to go to these camps. I know he did really well at that NIKE Combine... he was their MVP."
"He's our best offensive lineman," added coach Walls. "We put him on the left side at tackle to protect the backside of our quarterback, and he does an outstanding job for us.
"Zach is great against the run and the pass... he can block in either situation. We run the spread, and he does a great job with leading our blocking."
Allen was recruited by NC State linebackers coach Andy McCollum. He also had scholarship offers offers from Troy, South Florida, UAB and Middle Tennessee State before committing to NC State last summer.
These clips aren't highlights from Allen's senior season. In fact, all of this footage came from just two games... Tift County's matchups against Americus-Sumter and Coffee County. In these clips, Allen shows his ability to maul defenders in a variety of ways. Whether it's by pulling, in pass protection, or run blocking, Zach Allen consistently wins his battles against the defender he's assigned to block.
Because of his natural strength, above-average athleticism, and developed physique, Allen has a chance to come in and contribute early for the Wolfpack.
Scout.com has rated Allen a three-star prospect and the No. 50 offensive guard in the country.

Scouting Report: "The fact that Zack Allen doesn't have prototypical height for an offensive lineman is a given. However, when you get past that, he shows a ton of potential and it's apparent why NC State is so high on his future.
"Allen has tremendous natural strength, particularly in his lower body and that allows him to mash opposing defenders on the high school level. He sometimes plays too high which is common for most high school lineman but that is easily correctable once he gets to college.
"Allen's strong suit appears to be his ability to get out and block in space. He is very effective when used as a pulling guard. Allen moves extremely well and you forget at times that you're watching a 300+ pound player move around the field. Once Allen squares up and gets his hands on an opposing player, that defender is out of the play.
"In pass protection, Allen needs work on his technique and using his hands but with his quick feet and energy level, has all the tools the Wolfpack coaches need to turn into a standout lineman." -- Pack Pride Recruiting Analyst Steve Williams
