DT Thomas Locust came to NC State this weekend hoping for a solid offer from the Wolfpack. Once that offer was made official by head coach Tom O'Brien, the 6-3, 325 pound defensive lineman wasted no time in giving the State coaches a verbal commitment.
Pack Pride caught up with Locust at RDU just before boarding his return flight to California and he confirmed his commitment.
"Yes sir, I committed to NC State today," he said. "Coach O'Brien wanted to get a look at me and he told me he was impressed with what he saw. I'm so excited to be a part of the Pack."
After spending a year at Florida A&M, Locust transferred to Cerritos Community College. He spent part of last year along the offensive line before being moved full time to defensive tackle.
This past year Locust collected 24 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack and five QB hurries. His strength is his ability to clog the middle and allow the linebackers to fill and make plays and that's exactly what the Wolfpack coaching staff will be counting on when he hits the field in 2008.
Stay tuned for more on Locust's commitment to NC State from Pack Pride.
