Three Pack Players Named Academic All-ACC

Three starters from the 2007 NC State football squad have been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, which was announced on Monday.

To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

Junior Meares Green, a biochemistry major who played at guard and tackle in 2007, center Luke Lathan, an agricultural business management major, and placekicker Steven Hauschka, a graduate student in sports management, each earned the prestigious honor.

"These three young men are representative of what an NC State football player is supposed to be," said head coach Tom O'Brien. "I commend them for their success in the classroom, as well as on the field."

Hauschka led the ACC in field goal percentage (.889) and was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Placekicker Award. Green started 11 games and Lathan was the starting center in all 12 contests.
