Academics: Linney is enrolled at NC State for the spring semester.

The Recruiting Scene: Linney originally signed with the Pack in the spring of 2007 after considering but failed to qualify academically, and spent the fall semester at Hargrave Military Academy. He is one of four Pack players to have already joined the squad for the spring semester. Linney's stock soared after a strong Shrine Bowl performance in 2006. He received offers from South Carolina and East Carolina, as well as interest from Clemson and North Carolina.

High School Scouting Report: "Kyle Linney surprised me with his size, and is certainly 6-3/285 and will be a solid contributor as a nose tackle in college. He has some skinny legs that will need to add some muscle to before getting pushed back in the middle of he line. Plays very low off the ball and active in the middle with his hands and footwork moving laterally. A bit inconsistent, shows flashes of his potential against the run. Plays hard." -- Scout.com Recruiting Analyst Miller Safrit
