Locker Room Report: Sidney Lowe

RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State head coach Sidney Lowe met with the media to discuss today's game against North Carolina.

"We started to relax a little bit and we didn't execute offensively. We turned the ball over and then we allowed them to get a couple of wide open looks."

"It just snowballed... we made a mistake, missed an assignment and left a guy wide open to take a shot."

"It's one thing to say it. It's another thing to do it. You've got to go out and execute it. A guy like that, he's not going to lay down and allow you to take him out of the game... he was the best player on the floor today. He's been playing that way for awhile."

"In the second half, it's that point where we hit and we lose our concentration and focus and we breakdown. For that I'm not sure why."

"It wasn't the scoring. It was defense we needed. I just didn't think [Hickson] was defending. I thought Tracy came in and did a great job for us defensively... I thought Ben did a nice job for us. Those two bigs did a nice job. Finally, as I told them, one of the guys jumped to contest Hansbrough's shot, it was Ben, and he blocked it."

"We're in this thing to win. I'm going to play the guys that are going to do what we need to do. I thought Tracy and Ben at that time did a nice job for us."

"Well they've got one of the best players in the country in Tyler. They've got one of the best wings in the country in Ellington. They've got one of the best sixth men, if you want to call him.. he's really a starter, in Green. They have talent. They play hard, they play smart, they play the right way, and obviously they are coached well. It's no mystery they are still going to be good, and you saw tonight that the two big guns are going to do what they are supposed to do. That's what good players do. They pick it up and they carry the team... they don't let them down. That's what they did. Certainly they miss Lawson in a different aspect and what he brings to the table, but they still have too many weapons. They have enough weapons that they can cover up for it."

"Javy and J.J., they've played well for us. They really have. Those two guys have played well. Javy is really coming along and J.J. plays hard. He didn't defend well tonight, but he plays hard. I know it's not because of the freshmen guys."

Tracy Smith earn more minutes with his play tonight?
"Absolutely. Absolutely."
