RB Kevin Fogg from Apex (NC) High School has been one of the Triangle area’s most exciting running backs over the last couple of years. After a tremendous sophomore season that saw Fogg amass better than 1,500 yards rushing and 16 touchdowns, injuries derailed much of his junior year. Fogg (5-10, 171 pounds) still managed to rush for close to 600 yards and five touchdowns while adding 312 receiving yards and two touchdown receptions in just eight games. For his efforts Fogg was named all-conference and offensive player of the year.
As he battles back from an injury-shortened junior season, Fogg will look to have an impressive camp and combine circuit over the coming months. Schools like NC State, East Carolina, Virginia, UNC, Duke, Auburn, Clemson, Colorado have already taken notice and will be tracking his progress throughout the summer.
The Pack got an early jump with their recruiting efforts when they hosted Fogg at their recent junior day event. Fogg came away impressed with NC State and likes that they’re so close to home.
“The facilities were very nice and I really like the coaches, especially the running back’s coach (Jason Swepson). The head coach, he was real cool also. Coach Archer is the guy that’s recruiting me. They said I really need to come to camp and that’s the most important thing for me to do right now.
“I like them a lot. They’re close to home, right down the street and I think there would be a chance for me there.”
As Fogg continues to work for his first scholarship offer, he’s keeping all of his recruiting options open for the time being.
“I haven’t really sat down and thought about my favorites yet but I plan to real soon.”
