At the UnderArmour Scout.com Combine, Marlboro County (SC) standout Tyrell Edwards displayed solid athleticism and certainly passed the eye-ball test.

Attending the event with his twin brother, Tariq Edwards, and fellow teammate Kinsman Thomas, the trio represented Bennettsville (SC) Marlboro County High School extremely well.

As a junior, Tyrell, who projects as a tight end, had five receptions for 87 yards and 13 carries for 89 yards and two touchdowns while playing quarterback. Defensively, he totaled 71 tackles with five tackles for a loss and two sacks.

Edwards has already garnered scholarship offers from Illinois and Vanderbilt, and he and his brother, who also claims offers from NC State,Maryland, and South Carolina, visited the Wolfpack this spring.

At the recent UnderArmour Scout.com Combine, Tyrell Edwards impressed with his athleticism. Measuring in at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds, Edwards ran a 4.91 40-yard dash, the fastest time among all tight ends at the event. His 4.47 shuttle and 33.5 inch vertical jump also ranked among the combine's best.

Following the combine, Pack Pride caught up with Edwards for a quick update on his recruitment.

How do you feel things went for you today?
Real good. It feels good out here. The weather is going great. I'm doing pretty good so far.

What was the most challenging part of the combine?
I didn't get the time I wanted in the 40... in spring practice I cut my toe, so I couldn't really run on it. I'm trying to keep it rested for the season.

What schools are looking at you thus far?
Virginia Tech, Illinois, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt. Those are the top schools in my mind right now.

What about those schools stand out to you and is there a leader?
It's still open. I'm trying to find out a lot of things academically so I will have something to fall back on.

What are your thoughts on Virginia Tech?
I like the family history. My father went there, so I grew up going to Virginia Tech every weekend.

What do you like about Illinois?
My father visited Chicago a lot on business trips, so he go a chance to go up there and see the stadium. I talked to the recruiting coach, he came down to our spring practice and I talked with him.

What about South Carolina? I like that it's close to home and I could see my mother a lot, because I know she doesn't want me to leave.

I know you visited NC State this spring. Are they currently recruiting you?
Yes sir. They want my brother more. They came to the school and talked to me. I've been looking into that, too... I just forgot to mention them.
