"I really do like AAU basketball," said Shuffler. "I've had to play center for my school team but now I can play forward... some small forward and power forward.
"I like it because shooting is a strength of mine, and I've played well. I've had some good games for us and colleges are recruiting me pretty hard."
As a junior, Shuffler stated that he averaged 19 points and 10 boards for East Burke while shooting 58% from the field and 42% from behind the 3-point line.
Because he doesn't have any written scholarship offers, this is a big spring and summer for Shuffler. Davidson has been recruiting him the longest, and the Wildcats remain in the mix. West Virginia, Furman, Liberty, Air Force, NC State, and Virginia Tech are also expressing interest.
"I'd have to say Davidson and West Virginia are probably recruiting me the hardest," said Shuffler. "I've received a lot of personalized mail from Davidson, and West Virginia is saying I could fit in there. Both of those schools have been telling me that they like watching me play and are looking forward to getting to know me a lot more."
NC State is the latest team to become involved. Heading up Shuffler's recruitment for the Wolfpack is assistant Pete Strickland.
"They are recruiting me but haven't offered," said Shuffler. "Coach Pete Strickland is their recruiter for me. I've received some emails from them and letters. They have said they are watching me play and like how I'm developing my game.
"It sounds like they are going to keep watching me some more and see how I keep playing. I'd say they are definitely interested in me."
Shuffler will be playing this weekend in the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions with the Carolina Raptors in the 17-under division. Pack Pride will have extensive coverage of Shuffler from the event so stay tuned!
