At 5-foot-10, Taylor made big 3-point shots all weekend and played with a lot of poise for just a rising junior. He's already received several scholarship offers and NC State is expressing major interest. Pack Pride spoke with Taylor following one of his games, and we will have highlights of him in action later this week.
How do you feel the spring AAU circuit has gone for you so far?
It's going good. I'm really trying to make the end of my sophomore year a big year. I'm not depending on next year and I don't take days off... every game is a big one.
How has your team been playing?
We're doing good. We picked it up real good because a couple of weeks back, in April, we had gone 0-4, and then ever since then we've been picking it up. Last tournament, in the Prather, we made it to the championship and we've just been picking it up and playing better as a team.
What schools have offered you a scholarship?
Florida State, I know, has been talking to me. N.C. State, Xavier, Cincinnati, Georgia and pretty much those types of schools, but, I haven't really looked into any of them.
Have they offered, or have they just shown interest?
Yeah, Florida State offered, Xavier, and Cincinnati.
What do you think of N.C. State?
I like it real good, especially since my friend J.J. [Hickson] came here, so every time I come down here he rubs it in and tells me how good the school is. And I like the practice facility and the coaching staff as well. So N.C. State is definitely on my list.
What does J.J. say to you about being at NC State?
Everyday I see him, he says something. He'll probably say something to me tonight after the game.
What's it like playing with some other guys NC State has committed or is looking at in C.J. Leslie and Lorenzo Brown?
It's actually good for all three of us, even though C.J. already committed, but, when N.C. State comes to watch C.J., it gives me a chance to show what I can do, as well as Lorenzo. But basically, we just play together and try to make each other better.
Do you all ever talk about what it would be like playing together at the college level?
Yeah, we've thought about it. But we'll just see how everything works out. It may happen, it may not.
Do you have a top school in your mind or a top-5 in your mind?
Right now it's probably N.C. State, Florida State, Xavier, and Cincinnati. And pretty much, I'm just trying to keep my options open as long as possible.
Do you have any idea when you might make a decision?
I'll probably definitely try to get it done by junior year that way my senior year I can just work hard and get ready for college and not have to worry about too many things at one time.
