Playing with W.P.C. Elite in the 2008 Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions, Armwood showed why he is one of the nation's top players. Blessed with terrific playmaking ability for his size, he is improving his jumper and ability to finish with contact around the rim. He's added muscle since last year, and it has helped him in the paint.
Pack Pride spoke with Armwood following one of his games, and we will have highlights of him in action later this week.
First of all, how did you think you did out there today?
I tried to get back from last night... we had a tough game last night and we lost. I had to get back in the groove of things, get back right.
How would you describe your game?
I'm a face-up four-man, trying to make the transition to the wing.
What have you got to work on to complete the transition?
I've got to work on ballhandling... I've got to stay lower in everything I do. I raise up high a lot... that's one of my weaknesses.
What have you heard from colleges so far?
I've talked to a lot, I'm going to start going to my visits in the summer time which might really start heating things up.
Villanova, Texas, Maryland, Ohio State and North Carolina.
Has N.C. State checked in on you at all?
Yes they have, and I should have mentioned them. I've talked to coach [Lowe] a couple of times about coming up to the school to see it.
What do you know about N.C. State?
I know their coach real well. I don't know too much about the basketball tradition and everything.
What will factor into your decision on a college?
I'm looking for the best place. I've got to spend four years here. I've got to make the best possible decision I possibly can.
