"I was at NC State and Wake Forest this past Friday and Saturday," said Jackson. "I had a great time at both places. Both are very good ACC programs.
"I was impressed with Wake Forest and with coach Grobe. Their campus is really nice and I got a chance to talk with all of the coaches. They've won a lot of games over the past two years, and coach Grobe is one of hte top coaches in the country."
What did he think of the time he spent in Raleigh?
"NC State was an impressive place," said Jackson. "The facilities are real nice, and their campus is huge. I like the town of Raleigh, it looks like a nice college town.
"I also like coach O'Brien. Him and the coaching staff have all the tools they need to win at NC State. I think they are going to get that program turned around and really have a shot at winning an ACC championship."
Rated a three-star prospect and the No. 18 offensive guard in the country by Scout.com, Jackson is one of the most technically sound linemen in the nation. With offers on the table from NC State, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Middle Tennessee, and Marshall among others, Jackson has options. As it stands now, a trip to his hometown school, Tennessee, looms large.
"I'm going to Tennessee this week for a camp," he stated. "They've come on strong this spring and they want me to come up so they can evaluate me there.
"It's a great school, and even though they are right in Knoxville I'd like them wherever they were. I'm impressed with it."
As it stands now, Jackson has interest in several programs and has a tentative timeframe in mind.
"I would say right now I have high interest in Tennessee, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, and North Carolina State," he stated. "I've not narrowed down my list, but those schools I do have a high interest in.
"I'll probably try to go to Auburn sometime after I go to Tennessee, and I want to visit West Virginia, Kentucky, and Louisville. I'm going to decide in probably mid-July or early August. I think it will be sometime around there."
