Leslie Shines At NBPA Camp

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA -- It's a shame when it happens, but unfortunately it does. Something good will get started and come to all too early of an end. That pretty much sums up future Wolfpack hooper C.J. Leslie's week at the NBPA Camp.

It's a shame when it happens, but unfortunately it does. Something good will get started and come to all too early of an end. That pretty much sums up future Wolfpack hooper C.J. Leslie 's week at the NBPA Camp.

After a terrific start, the near 6-8 rising junior wing's week was cut short by a nagging groin injury.

Still, Leslie was able to focus on what he did so well.

"I think I've played pretty good," Leslie told Pack Pride. "I've been staying effective and trying to be in every play out there."

While he's always dazzled with his ability to handle the ball, run the floor and make plays as a long and tall wing, the question about Leslie has always been his consistency. It's a knock that Leslie is aware of and he's taking responsibility to try and make sure that nobody can question him in that regard from here on out.

"Just for my sake I think I need to play hard every time I take the court," said Leslie. "Every time you step out there you've got to respect the game and go hard."

In a camp setting where the top players from around the country are in attendance, Leslie also finds himself running across other State targets. Even on his own team he's playing with a major target in rising senior guard Lorenzo Brown. While he doesn't exactly push the Pack on potential teammates, he's certainly happy to talk with them about why they should join him in Raleigh.

"We definitely talk and hang out and that's fun," said Leslie of how he approaches other Pack recruits. "I don't really force it on anybody. But if they bring it up I will definitely talk with them about it."

Still deciding between which shoe camp to attend – LeBron or Reebok U – this summer, Leslie is now looking to finish his summer with the Worldwide Renegades strong. When he can, he's also keeping his eye on a couple of years down the road and preparing himself for his arrival in Raleigh.

"I'm just making sure that I'm ready," said Leslie. "Obviously I'm a little skinny. So I've really been focusing on lifting the weights and getting stronger."
