Today I committed to Tom O'Brien and NC State. Coach Swepson has been loyal to me the
whole time. He hasn't left me wondering about what he wants and what the future holds for me.
That is what I have been looking for.
Last year review
It has been hard work to get where I am. Starting with me leaving Edgewater after my sophomore year and coming to Boone to play for the Braves. Coach Ziglar gave me the chance to compete for the running back spot. I gave my all in training to getting bigger, faster and stronger. I won the spot but in the beginning of the season, we split time. When we started playing high caliber teams, I played full time and that’s when I started to shine. From then on I was the every down back. Last year I accounted for 66% of our team’s offense. This year I'm one of the captains of the team and the offense depends on our running game. So that means a heavy dose of me.
NC State has many state of the art facilities. The stadium is always sold out during the season. The fans support their team to the fullest. They even might have to expand the stadium to let people on the waiting list buy tickets. The weight room is inside the stadium and it oversees the field. There is a lot of room in there to workout and become a better player. Around the corner they have (3) 100 yard practice fields. I also got a chance to tour the school. Everything was built in the last 10 years. I met with one of the academic athletic advisors. We talked about how my schedule would look like in the fall. We also talked about getting me ready to enroll in January and what needs to be done.
I met with Coach O'Brien later on and talked about the future of the program. NC State is a rising program and he wanted me to be a piece of the puzzle. He sees me at running back and that is what I'm going to play. Right then and there I told him I want to play here. He welcomed me to the family. Afterwards I sat down with Coach Swepson (the RB coach) and we talked about life. This is only the beginning. I’ve got to have a good year, stay out of trouble, keep my grades up and we will see you in January. I would like to wear my high school number at NC State. #7 in Red and White.
